Mrs. Shepherd has proven her unyielding talents and skills in the corporate world for nearly 25 years. While working as a Project Controls Engineer at the Parsons Corporation, her passion and talents still leaned towards her appetite to serve in the community and media industry. This former columnist and “Robin’s Nest” feature writer with The St. Louis American newspaper got her start in community affairs in the 80’s. Martin Mathews, co-founder of the Mathews-Dickey Boys Club, appointed her Chairperson of the Mathews-Dickey Committee of 100 Women. Because of her hard work and the work of many influential women on the committee, females became a fixture in the club which is now known as the MATHEWS DICKEY BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB. Even today, she is still an active volunteer for the St. Louis American Foundation.

On one of her much deserved vacations in the early 90’s, Robin took a cruise to Jamaica and was bitten by the travel bug. Upon returning home she formed a travel club, then opened a full-service travel agency known as THE TRAVELING DREAM TEAM…”Where Dreams Become Reality.” Specializing in festive, fun filled and customized tours and events on the Island. The Traveling Dream Team is a subsidiary of her current company, Bubbling Brown Sugar Productions, LLC.

 

Through the years Robin has impressively become a nationally recognized Tour Director. She has also managed talent locally, regionally and nationally. Perhaps most notably among her roster of many recording artists, singing sensation and vocal producer Montina Cooper. Montina sang background vocals for superstar singer and recording star Beyonce for 16 years, as well as Mary J. Blige, Patti Labelle, Jamie Foxx and is currently on tour with Jill Scott.

In 2023, Robin received an Honorary Doctoral Degree from Harvest Christian University in Dallas, Texas and received the U.S.  President’s LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD from President Joe Biden for 10 years of Community Service.

As a result of that achievement, in 2023 she was given the opportunity to lend her talents and skills to St. Louis’s newest adult urban radio station, FOXY 106.9 FM. She was known for her daily, ever so popular feature, WHAT’S NEW IN THE LOU.” In addition, she served as the stations Director of Community Affairs.

Since her early days of attending Sumner High School in St. Louis, she has aspired for greatness and overwhelming community support. Through the years, her contributions to the community have impacted the lives of many. Her unyielding compassion and skills, has earned her many awards and honors. She is now one of the most recognized faces in the  community. Her commitment to her family, faith and friends is also some of her greatest contributions that she say’s “personally brings me joy and satisfaction.” Her plans for the future are to continue to be the role model and entrepreneur that she has become to thousands of her adoring fans. Her pride and humility doesn’t go without notice either. The future continues to shine even brighter for the rising star that has shined her light in and for the lives of so many people.
